Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. It was here that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she dropped new music through the internet including Bound. On July 21st, 2015. Omen included her in Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work with Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had been contracted with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured with Cole in The Creed II sound track on November 16. In February of 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. The track has received nearly three million views on YouTube within its debut week. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
